Founded in 2019 in Istanbul, Foton responded to the lack of popularity in renewable energy procurement in Turkiye. Accredited by The International Tracking Foundation in 2020, Foton addressed the challenge of investor awareness and industry pricing transparency. The introduction of Foton Market in 2021 led to a tenfold increase in renewable energy procurement compared to 2020, reaching 3 million MWh. By 2023, Turkish renewable energy procurement exceeded 11 million MWh.

  In addition to addressing challenges in renewable energy procurement, Foton tackled another hurdle faced by industries and commercial entities in planning net-zero commitments and sharing sustainability scores publicly. Introducing Foton ECO, the platform assists industries and commercials in registering as a service, offering support in verification and reporting processes for enhanced sustainability efforts.

  Foton currently employs young professionals across its I-Track Issuer Operations, Foton Market Operations, Foton ECO Operations, and Engineering teams. In 2024, Foton initiated a joint venture with Transcap in Egypt, aiming to replicate its success in the Egyptian market.
